Wireless Vehicle Interface

The 900 MHz wireless interface has a 200 foot indoor range and a 500 foot line of sight range. The WVI will allow one computer to communicate with up to 16 remote interfaces. A Windows-based utility is included which allows the user to check for any interfering RF signals operating in the same frequency band, to assign an ID number to each vehicle unit, and to load firmware updates. The EASE Wireless Vehicle Interface works with all EASE diagnostic software.

The revolutionary Wireless Vehicle Interface (WVI), is a 900 MHz EASE Scan Tool vehicle interface set that eliminates the need for cables between the vehicle under test and the PC running EASE diagnostic software. Vehicles can be scanned several hundred feet away.  Using WVI units, one computer can test up to 16 vehicles in succession.

The WVI set consists of a base unit that connects to a PC and a vehicle unit, which connects to the vehicle’s DLC. The WVI works on all OBD II compliant vehicles (96+) and currently supports OBD II Generic and GM, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota Enhanced powertrain data in wireless or cabled mode. (In cabled mode the WVI vehicle unit must be cabled directly from the vehicle to the PC). The WVI works on pre-OBD II GM and Ford vehicles in cabled mode only.

The WVI is an enormous benefit for high volume shops that need to move customers through quickly. Having one trained technician performing diagnostic tests, while other technicians work directly on the vehicle reduces testing costs. By eliminating the need for cables between the vehicle and the PC, liability from people tripping on cables and from vehicle body damage caused by cables can be reduced.

The WVI is easy to set up. A Wireless Vehicle Interface base unit is connected to the PC’s COM port and a WVI vehicle unit is connected to the vehicle’s diagnostic port. Start any EASE diagnostic software and choose the WVI vehicle unit ID number that you want to scan. The software automatically connects and you can use the Scan Tool just as if you were cabled directly.
